SMALL GROUPS
The small group ministry of Highfields Church is an integral expression of our church’s life. In the safety of a small group, people at varied stages of their life journey with God, can know that they belong.
In small groups we come to a deeper knowledge of Jesus Christ and realise our ministry; are pastorally cared for; find healing from past hurts; are stretched in our faith and know the practical, real love of Christ through others.
We value belonging to a balanced small group for congregational care, spiritual growth and Christian community. The core values, lifestyle & make-up of our small group is shown clearly in the acrostic below.
Service - Group members use their gifts to serve each other in the group and serve within the church family.
Multiply - Healthy groups grow and multiply to form new groups within 1 to 2 years.
Attendance & Accountability - Group members give priority to being at small group gatherings weekly and give other group members permission to help us live a life that pleases God. A leadership policy is that all group leaders need to be Partners in Mission and accountable to the leadership of Highfields Church.
Life related Bible application - Group members are to prepare for the study and apply the teaching of the Bible to life allowing God to transform us.
Leadership Development - Group members encourage the leader and encourage the development of leadership within the group.
Growth - Growing healthy spiritual lives in healthy growing small groups in a healthy growing church is our purpose.
Relationships - Relationships are built on trust, acceptance, respect, forgiveness & fun. Small groups are the primary point of care within the church.
Openness - Small groups have an empty chair representing the presence of Jesus, those who are not yet Christian and those we will invite to the group.
Unity - We are unified in the vision, values & beliefs of Highfields Church and we study the material set by the Ministry Leader & Leadership Team.
Prayer- We pray to our powerful God for each other, leaders, lost people & church ministries, & praise Him for answered prayer.
People enjoy building relationships, caring for each other and discovering God's life changing principles for living through our Small Groups. Our Small Groups meet at various times.
